PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE

Creation of a process modell for mechanical engineering which is aligned with Automotive SPICE® and other established standards in the industry.

MOTIVATION

SPICE for Mechanical Engineering has been introduced as part of the Automotive SPICE® extension concept. As mechanical (or mechatronic) products are an important part of modern system development, this model has been used in several companies for process improvement of standard process descriptions and to perform assessments. Feedback shows that this model helps the projects and companies to face future challenges in the changing mechanical development, like growing mixing with hardware, interfaces, and complexity. SPICE for Mechanical Engineering has been maintained over the years to stay consistent to the models of Automotive SPICE®and Hardware SPICE and to cover experiences from mechanical development.

DELIVERABLES

  • Maintenance of SPICE Mechanical Engineering (an Automotive SPICE® compliant process model)
  • Harmonization of the process model with the new version of Automotive SPICE® 4.0
  • Creation of standard training material and exams
